Karate translated means ‘way of the empty hand’. It is the Japanese art of weaponless self defense when in a striking encounter. At Raul Castillo Martial Arts we practice Kami-Do-Ryu, a traditional relative of Karate that was later developed to incorporate the use of weaponry in the advance ranks. In this class students will learn a tradition of self defense and discipline that has been passed through generations for thousands of years. Students will learn the history and language (Japanese) of Karate as we unravel the vast array of blocking, striking, kick and grip break techniques Karate has to offer. This program is offered twice a week under the tutelage of 2nd Degree Black Belt and former World Karate champion Charlene Coats.
